If you drive around Charmadi Ghat the road which connects Mangalore to Chikmagalur you will see Alekan falls on the way to Kottigehara from Charmadi. Its just next to the main road before 4kms from Kottigehara (1 km from Malaya Marutha guest house) in Mudigere. Alekan water fall is just next to a small bus stop by name ‘Alekhan Horatti’. The waterfall is behind this bus stop. To see the falls, there is a narrow way down just next to the board mentioning about the bridge. Alekan water fall is is the easiest waterfall to visit in Charmadi ghat by road and immensely beautiful. The Alekan falls may not be visible if it is misty. If you are lucky, you will be rewarded with a fabulous sight of waterfall.

Charmadi ghat starts after Kottigehara. 3 kms from Kottigehara is a guesthouse ‘Malaya Marutha’ built by forest department. This guest house is on hill top and from there one can see a panoramic view of the Charmadi ghat. Permission to stay there has to be obtained from forest office, Mudigere. It is easy to get permission to stay in Malaya Marutha guest house and one can also get permission from Kottigehara check post.

Alekan falls is around 18 kms from Charmadi ghat in Chikamagalur district. A state transport or private bus or jeep from Charmadi will take you to this place.
From Bangalore it is about 350 kms and from Mangalore it is about 80kms.
