Ottinene Beach
Ottinene Beach is located about 40 Km north of Kundapur after Baindoor towards Shiroor and Bhtkal. When I was living in Baindoor during my childhood, I used to go to this beach very often. I remember very well the local used to call this is Ottinenne (NOT Ottinene) Ottinene with its overhanging cliffs is an ideal place for viewing the sunset and is a scenic place Kshitija Nisarga Dhama located off NH 66 has good roads for first half and mud/rocky path for rest of the distance, which is motorable. You need to go there early morning to get the best view. Other than the view there isn’t much at this Nisarga Dhama- couple of buildings were locked and unmanned, so I guess the place is not yet popular with tourists.
Apart from enjoying the scenic view from here, one can also take the steps to go down all the way till the sea. You can visit the temple on the banks of sea is called Someshwara Temple (Shiva Temple). Couple of rocks and flat sea bed with a merging river makes this place spectacular to view. A resort, known as Sai Vishram Beach Resort has also come up in this area. Charge for this resort anywhere between 5000 to 10000 per day. Ottinene was time well spent. Going there during sunset is also very fun and you can view the beautiful sunset. Add this place in to your itinenary when visiting Murudeshwara/Karwar from Mangalore/Udupi side.
