Maravanthe Beach
Maravanthe beach is near to Kundapura, Karnataka, India. One of Karnataka’s most beautiful beaches. It is about 55 kilometres (34 mi) from Udupi. NH-66 runs right next to the beach and the Sowparnika River flows on the other side of the road, creating a spectacular scenery and considered only one of its kind in India. The river Souparnika, which almost touches Arabian Sea here, makes a U turn and goes eastward to join the Sea only after a journey of more than 10 kilometres (6.2 mi), which is a geological wonder.
The uniqueness of the beach is that there is a river, SouparNika, on the right side of the highway and on the left is the Arabian sea. Sweet water on one side and salt water on the other side. This river does not join sea at this locatioin, but joins elsewhere leaving a picturesque virigin beach to the viewers.
The beach has casuarinas trees along the beach, a nice place to relax. There is a tiny park here which houses the famous and endangered sea turtles. Maravanthe is famous for sea turtles. Sea turtles come here to the beach in October for laying eggs and hatching. There is a beach resort half a km away from the beach named as Turtle bay beach resort. Besides this, there are many small resorts dotting the beach here.
A walk on the beach along the Highway 66 with sea on one side and river on the other side is once in a life time experience. No other beach has a road cutting the river and beach in the middle. There are many concrete benches along the raod side on the beach for visitors to sit and relax.
The grand Maravanthe Beach of Karnataka is easily accessible through roads and rails. A large number of foreign visitors as well as the local residents of the nearby areas love to visit this naturally modified beach every year. There are several observation decks through which you can easily gaze at the exotic and spectacular natural beauty and magnificence of this grand beach side. This seaside beach is well enhanced with large white sandy shores which are covered with flora. There are various private cottages and hotels which are located on the shores of this beach side. Most of the cottages are reserved for the foreign visitors. This beach side also offers many attractions like swimming, surfing, fishing, beach cricket, beach volleyball and beach volleyball.
