The nearest railway station to the beach town of Malpe is the Udupi Railway Station. Train fares will range from Rs 200 to 1500 depending on the distance covered and the class of travel availed.
Malpe By Bus
Malpe is well connected by road to the town of Udupi, and many buses ply from Udupi to Malpe. The town of Udupi is around four kilometers (4 kms) away from Malpe and you can take buses to Udupi in order to travel to Malpe from there. This is the easiest road route that you can take. Udupi is located along NH17 and regular buses will be available from Karkala, Sringeri, Shimoga and Dharamstala. Bus fares will range from Rs 200 to 400, depending on the distance covered through the journey. Air conditioned and non air conditioned buses will also be available for the tourists to opt for.
Best Season to go to St Mary’s Island Malpe
Malpe has a subtropical climate, and the basic seasons that Malpe experiences are summer, monsoon and winter. Summers are hot and winters are moderately cold in the region, with a few months of heavy monsoon thrown in between.
The summer months in the beach town of Malpe are during the months of March, April and May. These months are generally hot, and temperatures normally touch a peak of forty degrees (40°C) during this time. The minimum temperature during summers in Malpe is thirty degrees (30°C).
